What Happens if You DON’T Change Your Eating Habits?
We all know that changing your eating habits can improve your overall health, help you lose weight (or gain weight if you’re underweight), even gain some energy. But how does it improve your overall health?
And the bigger question is what if you DON’T change your eating habits? How will that affect you in the short and long-term?
Oftentimes knowing the risks will help you see the true benefits of making a change. Because no one wants to invest the time and energy in making a change unless it’s really going to be “worth it.”
That’s why I’m going to show you just how “worth it” it is to make a change. Because what happens if you don’t change your eating habits is not going to be something you’ll want to find out.
Your Life May be Cut Short
Okay, I know that sounds dramatic, but it’s true. Prior to becoming an Eating Habit Coach, I was a healthcare provider and all the research showed that poor eating habits increases the risk of heart disease, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, and more.
These diseases will increase the risk of premature death. Meaning, dying before you would have otherwise if you didn’t have these.
No matter how old you are or if you currently have any of these diseases, changing your eating habits now will help lower these and therefore help extend your life. Your ONLY life.
If you’re on the younger side and don’t have these diseases yet, eating a diet high in salt, flour and sugar, will increase your risk of getting these diseases. Also, not getting the healthy micronutrients and macronutrients your body needs will increase your risk of disease.
So NOT changing your eating habits for the better will increase your risk of earlier death.

You’ll Continue the Emotional Struggle
Continuing your life with your current emotional struggle is also what happens if you don’t change your eating habits. In fact, expect it to get worse even.
What I mean by emotional struggle is think of all the ways your “bad” eating habits are making you think and feel about yourself. Probably not how you want to be thinking and feeling about yourself. Not how you DESERVE to be thinking and feeling about yourself.
You deserve to think the world of yourself. You deserve to feel confident, proud, and fulfilled. You deserve to walk through this world feeling damn good.
You don’t want to be feeling badly most of the time, or feeling worried you may overeat. You don’t want to be feeling out of control around food, or maybe you want to stop feeling SO controlling around food.
Whatever it is that you may be struggling with emotionally right now because of your eating habits, food, your body, etc., we can change that so you don’t have to feel like you’re stuck in that emotional pain.

Your Experiences Will be Lessened
When your eating habits cause you to be overweight or lack energy, you’ll be able to do less physically. So that means missing out on activities you used to enjoy or would’ve loved to try.
Many of my clients tell me their goals early on of being able to walk longer distances, get back into pilates, bike-riding, playing tennis, hiking, and skiing. They notice less joint pain, no longer being winded when walking up flights of stairs, being able to exercise 6 days a week again.
And when you’re able to experience more of your life with movement, your mood is improved. They all feel happier, more fulfilled, and even pleasantly surprised at what they’re able to do now.
The other life experiences that are lessened when you don’t change your eating habits is your experiences with other people. So besides physical activity, that may look like social events or even just comparing yourself to others.
When you don’t like your eating habits, you’ll probably find yourself not enjoying going out to dinner with friends as much, or going to social events where there will be food.
Maybe even avoiding these things altogether. Maybe also avoid dating because of it, or feeling uncomfortable around friends. So, changing your eating habits for the better can really provide a lot more enjoyment of experiences (and people) for you.

You’ll Spend More Money
It’s true, what happens if you don’t change your eating habits now, is that you’ll spend more on healthcare later. That’s because of the diseases I mentioned at the beginning (and all the health issues I didn’t mention).
Also, if you overeat (eat more than what your body really needs), you’ll end up spending a lot of money on food that you didn’t need.
One of the ways my clients notice they save money is that some used to eat out multiple times a week and now they find themselves eating out less and eating at home more.
Not because I said they should, but because they automatically just started doing so because of the changes they’re making as we work together.
So, not investing in a personal coach to help you change your eating habits now, will cost you WAY more money later. And with inflation (not even just now, but also over the decades), costs to you will only rise over time.
So investing now and solving the problem now, will save you so much money not just because of healthcare and food, but also because of inflation.

You’ll Never Know What Could’ve Been
Okay, this one right here is a biggie. My least favorite emotion to feel is regret. I’m not sure about you, but I would NOT want to feel like I’ve gone through my life and then had major regrets.
Regret not only for not making a change and ending up with a disease that could’ve been preventable by improving my eating habits Regret not only for missing out on better life experiences. Regret not only for going through my life feeling crummy about myself, food, etc.
But also regret for never knowing what my life could have been like if I made some changes now.
Luckily, I won’t have that regret and I’d love for you to be reassured you won’t have that regret either. Because a feeling of regret really stinks. I would imagine even more so at the very end of your life when you know it’s too late to change.
So again, I know that sounds a little dramatic, but it’s true. Don’t risk not knowing what could’ve been.
Don’t risk not knowing how much better you could feel.
Don’t risk not knowing all you could accomplish with a healthier body and mind.
Don’t risk not knowing how your experiences of life and others could have been improved.
Don’t risk your life. It’s your only one.
