If You’re Thinking About Coaching, This Episode Is for You
In this conversation, I’m breaking down the real signs you’re ready for coaching, even if you don’t feel confident yet.
We’ll talk about the fears that keep so many women from getting help, including emotional eating, self-doubt, all-or-nothing thinking, and the belief that you “should be able to do it alone.”
You’ll learn why coaching can finally help you create lasting change in areas like weight loss mindset, overeating, stress eating, emotional regulation, and self-trust… without relying on willpower.
I’m also sharing the core skills you’ll build inside coaching, like managing your emotions, shifting your thoughts, increasing self-awareness, celebrating progress, building confidence, improving your relationship with food, and creating habits that actually stick.
These are the tools that help high-achieving women stop the cycle of starting over, procrastinating, and feeling stuck.
If you’re ready to feel more in control, more grounded, and more confident, and you want a clear, compassionate explanation of what coaching actually looks like, this episode will help you understand whether coaching is the next right step for you.

If You’re Thinking About Coaching, This Episode Is for You
Hey there, welcome back to the Eating Habits for Life podcast.
If you’ve been circling the idea of coaching… thinking about it in the shower, Googling things late at night, telling yourself “maybe next month.” Or even… pretending you’re not thinking about it by busying yourself with other things, this episode is for you.
I want you to just take a breath, settle in, and imagine that you and I are in a cozy setting with a warm coffee or tea, or maybe a lemon water, and we’re having a conversation. A real one. About you, your fears, your dreams, and what’s possible for you.
And stick around to the end, because I’m sharing something fun you’re going to want to find out more about.
Signs You’re Actually Ready… Even If You Don’t Feel Ready
Let’s start with this:
Most women don’t feel “ready” when they start coaching. At all.
They feel tired.
A little overwhelmed.
Kind of stuck.
And usually, they’re annoyed at themselves because they feel like they should “know better by now.”
Sound familiar?
Here are the actual signs you’re ready… the ones I see over and over:
You’re thinking about it more than once.
You’re craving change, not necessarily in a dramatic way, but in a quiet “I can’t keep doing this” way.
You’re starting to realize that white-knuckling it on your own isn’t working. Starting over every Monday isn’t either.
You want support… and you also want to feel capable.
And deep down, you know there’s a version of you that exists just on the other side of this stuck place.
If you’re nodding along — that’s readiness.
Readiness isn’t confidence.
Readiness is curiosity.
It’s “I’ve had enough and I want change.”
It’s wondering what’s possible on the other side.
The Fears That Hold Women Back
Now let’s talk about the part nobody likes to admit: the fears.
The biggest ones I hear?
Money
“How can I justify this?”
“What if I spend the money and nothing changes?”
Totally normal. Money is emotional. Investing in yourself can feel indulgent or scary.
And I also know that money is the surface-level fear, it’s always something deeper like….
Fear of Failure
“What if I can’t do it?”
“What if I’m the one person coaching won’t work for?”
Let me tell you — every client I’ve ever had I’m pretty sure has wondered this in the beginning.
Even coaching that I’ve done with other coaches personally, I’ve had this exact thought. It’s normal.
Embarrassment
Women rarely talk about this, but it’s huge.
Being afraid to say things out loud…
Being afraid to be seen trying…
Being afraid someone will think you’re being dramatic.
Being afraid of embarrassment in front of a spouse if you fail, and fearing what you or your spouse will make that mean about you.
Another completely normal fear.
Not Trusting Yourself
This one? This is at the core of almost everything.
Not trusting your decisions.
Not trusting you’ll follow through.
Sometimes not trusting that you’re worth the effort.
We can sometimes lose trust in ourselves along the way, especially if you don’t trust yourself around food. So, I’d say probably every single client of mine has had a self-trust issue in the beginning.
But that’s normal as well…and that changes. You’ll start seeing you can trust yourself.
If you feel any of these (fear of investing in yourself, fear of failure, embarrassment, lack of self-trust … nothing has gone wrong.
It doesn’t mean you’re not ready.
It means you’re human.
And it’s also the reason you need coaching, because coaching helps you with ALL of these.
Why This Time Can Be Different
You might be thinking, “Okay… but I’ve tried things before.”
Same.
We all have.
There’s nothing wrong with that.
The difference this time isn’t willpower.
It isn’t a new planner or a stricter routine.
It’s support — intentional, structured support where you’re not doing it alone.
This time is different because you’re not just trying to change actions and habits.
You’re changing the way you think, the way you feel, and the way you show up.
That shift doesn’t come from a book, a course, a nutritionist, a meal plan — it comes from a process, with someone walking alongside you.
The Value of Having a Coach
Here’s something most women don’t realize until they’re in coaching:
You can’t see your own blind spots.
Not because you’re doing anything wrong, but because you’re inside your life — inside your thoughts, your habits, your patterns.
A coach gives you a combination you can’t get anywhere else:
Neutrality
Someone who isn’t emotionally entangled in your struggles, which means I can see what you can’t. A client recently told me she couldn’t believe how negatively she’s been talking to herself, which has affected her emotions and actions negatively.
Strategy
Tools, frameworks, and process you don’t have to figure out alone.
Accountability
Not pressure. Support. Someone who holds your future self as the standard, even when you don’t. Someone who teaches you self-trust, so you can then be accountable to yourself.
Belief
You get to borrow mine until yours grows stronger. Belief is something I help you build along the way, even before you have all the results you want.
Most women spend years taking on everything alone, being the problem-solver for everyone else. Having a coach means you finally get to be supported.
And I get it. I’m a DIY-er. Like you, I pride myself in being able to do many things alone. But I’ve realized sometimes a lot of time and effort and even money gets wasted trying to do it all yourself.
The Skills You’ll Master — Skills That Last Your Entire Life
Coaching isn’t about willpower or perfection.
It’s about learning the internal skills that make change inevitable.
Here are just a few of the core skills you’ll build:
Awareness
Understanding why you do what you do instead of judging it.
This is the birthplace of every lasting change.
Managing Your Thoughts
You’ll learn how to catch the thinking that sabotages you — the “I’ll start Monday,” the all-or-nothing thinking, the shame spirals — and shift them into something supportive and doable.
Managing Your Emotions
This means you stop eating your stress, stop avoiding your feelings, and stop reacting from overwhelm.
You learn how to cope differently.
Seeing Food as Neutral
This one is life-changing and heals your relationship with food.
Food stops being the enemy or the hero.
It becomes… just food.
That neutrality is what ends the “good day, bad day” cycle.
• Celebrating Success First
You learn to notice what is working before you look at what isn’t.
When you lead with celebration rather than criticism, you create momentum instead of self-sabotage.
You view the world from a positive lens, rather than a negative one. Making your experience of yourself and your life so much more enjoyable.
And these skills compound. Again, they’re just a few of them.
They don’t evaporate when life gets stressful.
They become your new operating system. Your new version of you.
The Results We’ll Create Together
When you have support, clarity, and the right tools, here’s what happens:
You stop fighting with food.
You stop waking up already disappointed in yourself.
You stop feeling like you can’t trust your choices.
You put boundaries in place without guilt.
You follow through on what you say you’re going to do.
You feel calmer in your daily life, and definitely more peaceful around food.
You feel proud of yourself.
Your confidence grows because you’re keeping promises to yourself.
And the scale?
The food?
The routines?
Those shift because you shift.
The Value and Impact on Your Life
This work spills into every area:
Your energy increases because you’re not mentally draining yourself with shame or indecision.
You speak to yourself more kindly.
You stop quitting on yourself.
Your relationships become easier because you’re less reactive.
Your work feels lighter because you’re not constantly battling internal chaos.
And you start feeling like you’re actually living your life — not just getting through it.
When you know how to manage your mind, your emotions, your habits, and your relationship with food, you create a stability that influences everything else.
This is why coaching works.
This is why it lasts.
This is why the women who do this work look back six months later and say, “I don’t even recognize who I used to be.”
What Coaching With Me Actually Feels Like
Let me pull back the curtain.
Coaching with me feels like safety first.
You don’t have to come in polished or prepared.
You don’t have to impress me.
You get to show up real — whatever real looks like that day.
At the completion of coaching together for eating habits and weight loss, one of my clients continued coaching with me on everyday life stuff, because she said just being able to have my undivided attention for an hour was worth continued investment. How often do we get that? We can’t really dump on our friends an hour a week…we’d feel super guilty, right?
Coaching with me also feels like clarity.
That moment when something that felt tangled for months suddenly clicks into place?
That happens a lot.
It feels like partnership.
You’re not doing this alone.
We’re doing it together.
I’m not above you, I’m not judging you, I’m not evaluating you.
I’m in it with you — helping you see what you can’t see yet.
Coaching is gentle, but at the same time honest and powerful.
Messy, but productive.
And I think women are shocked at how much easier everything feels… and how quickly things begin to shift when they’re supported.
Ya know, one of the things I see with so many women is this quiet belief that everyone else deserves support more than they do.
They’ll bend over backwards for their families.
They’ll show up fully at work.
They’ll be the dependable one, the one people come to, the one who “has it together” on the outside…
While silently thinking:
I should figure this out on my own.
I shouldn’t need help.
Other people have it worse.
It’s not that big of a deal.
But here’s what I want you to consider:
Your struggles matter because you matter.
You don’t need to hit rock bottom to qualify for help.
You don’t need to justify why you’re tired.
You don’t need to prove you’ve tried “hard enough.”
You’re allowed to want your life to feel easier.
You’re allowed to want peace with food.
You’re allowed to want confidence and clarity and follow-through.
You’re allowed to want more.
And wanting those things doesn’t make you selfish or dramatic, it makes you human.
Here’s a truth most women never hear:
You are worth the time, support, and investment it takes to feel good in your life.
Not because you’ve earned it.
Not because you’ve achieved something.
Not because you’re perfect.
But because you’re you.
Choosing coaching isn’t choosing me or deciding to spend money or not.
It’s choosing yourself. It’s deciding what you want for your future and realizing what you’re leaving on the table if you decide not to choose yourself.
It’s saying:
“I’m tired of waiting for my life to magically change.
I’m ready to take the next step, even if I don’t feel confident just yet.”
That’s the moment everything starts to shift.
