How to Feel Better in Your Body

You need to lose weight to feel better in your body, right?

No, not at all. And I’ll tell you why.

You can choose to feel better in your body BEFORE you lose weight. You can also help your body feel better physically before you reach your weight loss goal.

I’m sharing with you how to feel better in your body starting now with both the methods I just mentioned. Feeling better in your body ahead of time will help make weight loss an easier and a way more enjoyable process for you.

Why Can’t You Feel Better First?

Who decided that you can only feel better in your body once you’ve hit a certain weight loss goal? You? Your doctor? An article you read?

I’m guessing it’s you who decided you can only feel better once you’ve hit a certain weight. So, that means you can also decide you can feel better even before you hit that goal weight.

I mean, it only makes logical sense that you get to be the one who decides in either case.

How you feel is determined by your own thoughts. So if you don’t feel good about your body, it’s only because you have a thought about your body that’s making you not feel good.

If you want to feel better about your body, then it’ll again be you who determines how you feel, with your own thoughts. I’ll explain how next.

How to THINK, to Feel Better in Your Body

First you’re going to want to choose what you want to feel about your body. Meaning, the feeling or emotion.

So if currently you’re feeling embarrassed about your body (because of a thought you’re thinking about your body), then decide which feeling you’d like to feel instead.

Let’s just say it’s pride. As in, you want to be proud of what you did to lose weight and proud of how your body has responded to weight loss.

If you want to start feeling pride now, what thought can you have about your body that would make you feel a tiny bit proud? (Even if it’s not yet the reason for the pride you’d experience AFTER weight loss.)

Maybe something like, “My body has done a lot for me.” (Because if you think about it, it has!)

Appreciating something your body does for you is an easier way of thinking better thoughts about your body and therefore feeling better. It’s a step in the right direction.

Whatever thought you do choose, make sure it’s something believable to you and causes at least a little bit of the feeling you chose.

The Actions You Can Take

Before you even see the number on the scale decrease, you can start doing a few things to help your body feel better. These will also help with weight loss, so it’s a double-win.

First, you’re going to want to make sure you’re drinking 64-80 ounces of water a day.*

*Unless your healthcare provider told you otherwise.

Shoot for 10 if you’re a larger-sized person, if you’re exercising, or if it’s hot. If all three of those, then shoot for 88-96 ounces of water a day.

Water will help energize you, so if you were feeling fatigue, you should feel better if you’re well-hydrated. It can also help you sleep better and improve your mood as well.

Speaking of sleep, that’s the next thing you can do to feel better in your body.

Go to bed a little earlier and make sure your room is cool and dark. Also, make sure you have comfortable pajamas, sheets, and pillow, and you’ve avoided blue light from your phone or TV at least an hour prior.

Having better sleep habits will assist you with weight loss. A lack of sleep will make you more hungry due to an increase in ghrelin, the “hunger hormone.”

Next, you’re going to want to get at least a little exercise in, to feel better in your body.

Getting those joints moving, blood flowing, and skin glowing will help energize you, and increase the likelihood you’ll sleep better that night.

Sweating out the toxins in your body will also help you feel physically better. So as annoying as it may be to have to take another shower after you exercise, just think of all those toxins leaving your body.

A fourth thing you can do to feel better in your body is to relieve some stress.

When you’re chronically stressed (or an emotion similar to stress), your cortisol levels are elevated. Elevated cortisol can cause weight gain.

So, do a little journaling, meditation, deep breathing, stretching, laughing, or anything else that usually relieves your stress (besides food, other substances or shopping).

The most important action, is to change your eating habits.

Changing your eating habits from less processed foods and refined sugars to more whole foods (foods closer to their more natural state) will help you feel a whole lot better.

When you’re feeding your body the nutrients it needs, you’ll feel less fatigue, headaches, heartburn, reflux, stomach pain. Longer-term, you’ll of course lose weight, but also have less illness too.

Final Note and More Help
